A slender girl was alone in the large vacant studio, her hair bundled up loosely in a bun. She wore a simple black leotard, pale pink tights, and a black dance skirt. Worn pointe shoes were strapped to her feet, and she paused in her movement to retie one of the ribbons.
Ariana straightened, and began to practice the routine again.
Glissade, changement, jeté, pas de bourrée, pirouette piquée.
She repeated the steps over and over again, not even seeming to care when her toes began to ache, and her steps became wobbly.

Kunst paused, scratching at her pencil with her sharp claws.
Her ears perked and she caught the sound of someone dancing. She flipped open her messy sketchbook and peered through the window.
A perfect model. One of her... friends. She paused, looking at Ariana, taking her form over a few quick glances and started to sketch, a slender girl standing on her toes, ready to take a step forward. She drew her roughly, a jumble of shapes before starting to clean up the lines and shape them into a girl.

Ariana's steps slowed, flowing into an adagio, her arms moving gracefully through the positions. A plié and relevé brought her to the tips of her toes again, and she slowly bourre'ed across the floor, as if tiptoeing, her feet a blur.
The girl's arms stretched out to either side, slowly moving up and down as if she were a bird flapping it's wings. Then she slowly lowered herself to the ground, ending with one leg folded beneath her, the other stretched out in front in a half-split, her hands placed gently on her chest, which was heaving.
Still breathing hard, Ariana rose and curtsied to her reflection in the mirror before turning to leave. Only then did she notice Kunst watching her through the window in the door of the studio. She raised an eyebrow at her friend, and grabbed her bag before hurrying out of the room.
"What are you doing here?" she asked as she opened the door, stepping out into the hallway.

"A portrait." She replied, starting to shade in the picture and add details, not looking up at the other girl.

Ariana peered down at the drawing, frowning. "Is that me? Was my turnout really that bad?" she asked, squitning at the drawing.

The girl glanced up.
"I know nothing about dancing. I just draw."
She went back to shading and started on the background, taking a quick glance inside the studio to get a mental picture

Ariana rolled her eyes and straightened up. "Want to come to lunch with me? I was going to head that way..."

Ariana smiled. "Great! Let me just grab my stuff from the dressing room, I'll be right back." She hurried off to one of the many changing rooms, and came back a few minutes later with a pair of jeans pulled over her tights in place of her skirt, and a tank-top and jacket over her leotard. "Let's go!" she said, and lead the way toward the stairs.

"Want to eat outside?" the girl called over her shoulder as she passed a window. It was nearing the end of summer, but many students were still enjoying the last of the warm weather out on the grass, and at the picnic tables.

"et's go outside," decided Ariana, smiling. "It's so nice out right now, and soon it'll be too cold to go out..." She hurried down the stairs and to the cafeteria.
